The day we get the chicks they are put into a movable pen with a heat lamp. There is fresh grass and wood chips for bedding. Once they are old enough to leave the heat lamp they are moved to fresh grass twice a day, at the minimum. The pen provides shelter, shade, and good airflow.
The chicks build muscle through this process, assuring quality meat. The fresh grass is full of food they love, including bugs, which is a favorite of theirs.
